CONSTRUCTION HITS MIDWAY POINT!
July 11th was a hot, but joyous day as donors, partners and one very special resident of a Building a Living Legacy home announced to local media that the project has reached the midway point of completion. Eighteen of the 32 Building a Living Legacy homes are finished and 12 families have taken up residence – on their way to more stable, productive lives.
New resident Donald Boykins, who spoke at the press conference, explained what this new environment means for his wife and children, “I’m now in a home I am proud of. A home anyone would be proud of.”
Boykins spoke of how his family was offered the opportunity to rent one of the refurbished properties after experiencing years in deplorable, sub-standard rental units. Boykins was joined by Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee Senior Vice President Tony Mason, REALTOR® Foundation President Joyce Scotten, Indy-East Asset Development Executive Director Katy Brett and John H. Boner Community Center Housing Support Coordinator Cindy Goedesky. All spoke of the dedicated partnerships that have brought the project so far and thanked REALTORS® for their enthusiastic support.

CLEANUP DAYS CONTINUE
With two down and one to go, don’t miss your chance for a hands-on experience to contribute to the Building a Living Legacy project.
In April and June, members turned out for planting, mulching, trash pick-up and more all to beautify the St. Clair Place neighborhood.
The last cleanup day of 2011 is Friday, September 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. Mark your calendar!
