    229 DAYS

WELCOME HOME
In the last two months, eight families have been greeted with just those words, “welcome home” as the first residents of the Building a Living Legacy project have moved in and begun new lives. Over and over we have heard nothing but tremendous gratitude from the residents. With tears in her eyes, the latest resident remarked, “I feel like I’ve won the lottery.” She went on to say, “if you really want to change your life, but just need a leg up, it’s amazing how people will help you.”

This milestone of eight families starting on a new path in live has been reached through the hard work of many volunteers, generous donors like you and the strong bonds of partnership with the Indy-East Asset Development Corporation, the John H. Boner Community Center and the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee. More homes are nearing completion and all 32 will be complete by February, 2012.

Bill Hacker, chair of the Centennial Cabinet said, “As REALTORS®, we are thrilled to be part of this project. “To see the first families benefitting is so rewarding. It will be a proud day when we welcome all 32 families home.”

SPRING CLEAN-UP BRINGS OUT THE WORKER BEES
On April 14th, more than 40 MIBOR members hit the streets to engage in some post-winter clean-up. More than 90 bags and a full dumpster later, the trash and debris had been cleared from the 10th street corridor and the St. Clair Place neighborhood streets.

Thank you to all who gave their time. We are at it again on Thursday, June 16 from 9:00 until 12:30. Volunteers will meet at the John H. Boner Center Community Center Welcome Center (corner of 10th & Jefferson) at 9:00 a.m. All equipment, breakfast treats and a box lunch will be provided.

We will mulch, edge, plant and do a sweep of the neighborhood for trash pick-up. Click here to register and click here for an event flyer.

OUR THANKS
The centennial celebration is a truly comprehensive project. While the Building a Living Legacy project is the philanthropic cornerstone, many hours have been given by MIBOR members to recount the history of the organization, plan events and market all things 100. MIBOR Past President Beth Blake has led a group of members over the last two years and we thank each and every one for their time and talent. Click here to see who has been involved in planning your centennial.

TAKING NOTICE

The public is beginning to take notice of the important role REALTORS® are playing in the revitalization of the Near Eastside through the Building a Living Legacy project. Recent news stories carried on FOX-59, the Indianapolis Star, Inside Indiana Business and WIBC bring to light the role the real estate industry has taken. SO MANY WAYS TO HELP
To honor MIBOR’s 100-year anniversary, we are asking all members to donate $100 to the Building a Living Legacy project to show central Indiana that this year – like none other – home is where the heart is.

An insert in your May dues bill provided all the information and an easy avenue. Please add your donation to the dues payment today or click here to donate. Donate $100 and receive the special
“I Contributed”
marketing icon that can be used on your e-mail signature and marketing materials.

“Adopt A House” is another great way to help. Divisions and offices have “adopted” homes to supply basic household needs to new residents. The first eight residents have already benefitted from your generosity. Contact Molly Hahn at mollyhahn@realtorfoundation.com to get involved. Thanks for these groups for being the first to step up:
